roseamp Jerry Reinsdorf: Earliest Derrick Rose Will Be Back Is January
Chicago Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf appeared on ESPN Chicago radio today and gave an outlook on Derrick Rose’s rehab and 2012-2013 season in which he provided optimism for the Bulls upcoming season but also made absolutely clear that Derrick Rose will not hit the court until he is 100% healthy:

“The doctors told us it would be 8-12 months from the time of surgery…the surgery was in May, so that means the earliest possible time he’ll be back will be the middle of January. If it’s 12 months, then he will miss the whole season, we just don’t know. The reports are very good, they say he’s ahead of schedule. I’m not going to let him back until the doctors tell me it’s absolutely safe for him to come back. Until the doctors say he is 100 percent and they put their reputations on the line, he’s not coming back. In the meantime, we are going to have a pretty decent club. We lost most of our so called “Bench Mob”, but if you look at the numbers, the new bench has the potential to be more productive than the old guys. We still have Joakim, and Luol, and Taj, and Boozer. Without Derrick, will we win a championship? I doubt that very seriously, but if we can hang in there and get to the playoffs, and Derrick comes back, who knows? We might be there at the end.”
