After signing with Scholastic last August, Amar’e Stoudemire is finally set to release the first of three books in his children’s series. ‘STAT: Standing Tall and Talented‘, which will be released in both hardcover and paperback on August 1st, is based on the life of Stoudemire at 11-years old. In the book, Stoudemire plays sports with his friends, helps his dad with his landscaping company, and takes his school work seriously. But when an older group of boys starts bullying his friends on the basketball court, Amar’e saves the day using his intelligence and athletic ability.
The New York Knick seems enthusiastic about the opportunity to get children, especially boys, into reading. “I am excited to create my book series with Scholastic. They are the best in the business so I trust them with my stories. I decided to write for children because although I am an avid reader now, I wish I had read more as a child. I hope that together with Scholastic, we can creatively inspire a new generation to read.”
Books 2 and 3 are set to release in October 2012 and January 2o13.
