The Bulls primary free agent acquisitions are almost complete with the official additions of Kirk Hinrich and Vladimir Radmonivic, followed by the likely additions of Nazr Mohammed and Marco Belinelli. According to the Chicago Tribune, ”the Bulls will have 12 players under contract and hope to add one or two more from a group including Malcolm Thomas, Patrick Beverley and E’Twuan Moore, sources said.” All three have shown interest in Chicago. Moore, a shooting guard, was recently used in the S&T involving Courtney Lee and was sent to Houston. He is expected to be waived as WEEI.com is reporting that Moore “expects to wind up in Bulls camp”. Patrick Beverley, the 2012 EuroCup MVP, has worked out for 3 teams this summer including the Cavaliers, Bulls and Rockets (via ESPN). His agent told ESPN Chicago that Beverley “fits the Bulls’ system”. Malcolm Thomas, a stand out for the Bulls in Las Vegas Summer League action, is drawing interest around the league, primarily from Chicago, Atlanta, Charlotte and LA Clippers. CSN Chicago reported that the Bulls are attempting to sign the free agent PF who played in the D-League last year to a 1-year deal.
Of the three, an obvious choice for me would be Malcolm Thomas who I feel would grow in Thibodeau’s heavily reliant rebounding/defensive system. Of Moore and Beverley, I’d take the chance on Beverley as the Bulls need someone with some kind of experience to back-up Hinrich. Beverley, still only 24, proves to have the most, playing and standing out overseas since 2008. Moore would add perimeter shooting, but with the signings of Radmonivic and Belinelli, where would he fit in? He’d have to prove he can handle the point guard responsibilities.
