According to Chris Haynes of CSNNW, unrestricted free agent Marcus Camby has narrowed his list of teams to the New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks, and the Houston Rockets. The 38 year-old center who was traded to the Houston Rockets last season has been in contact with all six of those teams.
All of the teams listed, plus some, called Camby’s agent Rick Kaplan short after the start of free agency this morning. The 16-year veteran knows what he wants, and he’s primarily considering teams in contention for a championship- which comes as no surprise. Due to his 16 years in the league, Camby doesn’t plan on taking any visits with teams.
Marcus Camby has solid career averages of 9.7 PPG, 9.9 RPG, and 2.4 BLKPG- any team could use that. Being that the Knicks don’t have a solid backup for Tyson Chandler, they would be crazy not to go after Camby. He would be a solid bench player who could maintain the energy of the team while Tyson’s on the bench, Josh Harrellson isn’t ready for that role.
