CJ Watson participated in the Allegiate Athletics Agency gold tournament this weekend in Tennessee and spoke with GoVolsXtra, a publication from his college alma mater. He talked about his season with the Chicago Bulls, stepping in for Derrick Rose, the infamous Game 6, and finally his future with Chicago. Here are the highlights:
On stepping up for the injured Derrick Rose:
“There was a lot of pressure at first, but after a while I got used to it. “
On the pass to Omer Asik which led to the Game 6 elimination vs. Philadelphia:
On receiving criticism for that play:
“That’s OK, they criticize the best players in the world. I’d probably do the same thing again; I trust my teammates.”
On his future with the Bulls:
“I don’t worry, I just pray. I’ve proven I can play in the NBA as a starting point guard, or at least one of the best backups. I don’t think about it much.”
I’m sorry, you can trust your teammates – but don’t EVER make that pass again!!
