With the uncertainty surrounding Derrick Rose’s availability next season, the Bulls are very thin in the point guard department.  To stay under the salary cap, John Lucas and C.J. Watson may return to the United Center as visitors next season.  That leaves…nobody.  The Bulls have to fill an interim starting position for the most important role on the floor in a very short amount of time.  With the core of Rip Hamilton, Carlos Boozer, Joakim Noah, Luol Deng, Taj Gibson, Omer Asik and Jimmy Butler all deemed “safe” next season according to CSN Chicago, the Bulls still high expectations. They will use that stability to entice veteran free agents Jason Kidd and Steve Nash this summer says CSN Chicago. To acquire one of the two, the Bulls would absolutely need to sever ties with Ronnie Brewer,  C.J. Watson, Kyle Korver and John Lucas – as Kidd made $8.5 million in 2012 and Nash $11.6 million. If the lure of winning a championship does not trump a high pay check and Nash and Kidd pass up the offer – look for C.J. Watson, the cheapest option, to possibly return as he is already comfortable running Tom Thibodeau’s system.  And if all else fails, there is the 29th pick in the NBA Draft, where the Bulls will more than likely opt for a shooting guard or point guard.  The direction the Bulls will take will become more clear after draft night on June 28.
