When Derrick Rose went down with an ACL tear on April 28, so did their hopes for a rematch with the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals and a potential NBA Finals appearance. Dwyane Wade didn’t hesitate to send out thoughts and prayers to the 2011 MVP and fellow Chicagoan. ”I said a prayer for him and his family. You never want to see anyone get injured, especially a player of his caliber. Very unfortunate. You hope he does his best to rehab and gets back to being the D-Rose that everyone loves,” Wade said just hours after the injury occurred in Game 1 of the Bulls vs. 76ers series. Wade’s teammate, Lebron James, didn’t find the injury particularly disheartening as he told reporters following the Game 1 victory over the New York Knicks: ”I worry about the Knicks. It’s unfortunate that the injury has happened for him and that team, but I worry about the Knicks. I don’t worry about the Bulls.”
In addition to a Bulls-less ECF, Lebron was pressed on Derrick Rose’s injury for a second time, and this time gave a more earnest response: “I don’t know what he’s going through,” James said. “I’ve never had that type of injury, knock on wood, so I can’t imagine what he’s going through. I just hope he comes back 100 percent, 110 percent, because I am a fan of his. I love the way he plays the game of basketball and what he brings to the game.”
What a quick change of heart …now we ask you Bulls fans:
