C.J. Watson announced that he had a successful surgery today via Twitter. Wait, what? Well, according to the Chicago Tribune, Watson who battled elbow and ankle issues all season long, underwent a procedure on both feet to take care of the painful plantar fasciitis he was playing through as well. Watson and the Bulls chose to keep his injury under wraps, although there were times when it was mentioned in the media that C.J. was “banged up” and playing through pain.
Watson to the Chicago Tribune:
“It was hard. I couldn’t do all the things that I’m usually capable of doing. But I knew with Derrick out, I had to give the team what I could.”
Wow. This news puts a different perspective on Watson’s questionable play late in the season, and really adds a new level of respect for him and his toughness & dedication to the team.
