John Lucas opened up to the media about Derrick Rose’s continued importance to the team even with him sidelined with an injury saying “he’s still our captain, and that has not changed”. He elaborated more on Rose prior to Game 2 vs. the 76ers:
On team’s outlook last couple of days since Rose has been injured:
Same. Positive, you know Derrick reached out to everybody and said ‘Let’s get it going. Bring that ring back to Chicago, and we’ll go on from there’.
On if Rose being around team is motivating:
It’s always motivating. We saw him yesterday, he’s still coming around the team, being around the team. Like I said, he’s our captain, and that has not changed. He’s always with me, talking to me about what I can do better. When you have a leader like that who gets everybody motivated it’s always good.
