In a press conference today, Jeremy Lin was asked if there was any special reason behind his Jersey number.

He responded by explaining his choice for his first jersey number (7). Lin chose number seven because it’s a number used frequently throughout the bible. Since he could not be number 7 when coming to New York (obvious reasons-Carmelo Anthony), he chose #17, the number he represented in the D-League. Jeremy Lin was going through rough times, being bounced around from team to team, and eventually the D-League. He went on the explain the 1 and the 7 meant that God was always with him.

Well, it certainly worked out for Lin as he rose out of the D-League and transformed into a worldwide phenomenon.
